Photography FAQs – Headshots & Portraits in Lancaster

Answers to common questions about professional headshots and family photography in Lancaster and Morecambe. If your question isn’t covered, please feel free to get in touch.

Professional Headshots

Who are your headshot sessions for?

I photograph professionals, business owners, creatives and small teams who need natural, approachable images for LinkedIn, websites, marketing and personal branding.

What if I don’t feel comfortable being photographed?

That’s completely normal. Sessions are relaxed and gently guided throughout, so you won’t be left wondering how to stand or what to do. My aim is to create professional photographs that still feel like you.

Where do headshot sessions take place?

Sessions can take place outdoors, at your workplace or at a suitable indoor location in Lancaster or Morecambe, depending on the look you need.

What should I wear?

Choose well-fitting clothing that reflects how you normally present yourself professionally. Plain colours generally photograph well. You’re welcome to bring a change of jacket, shirt or top to create some variety.

What is included in a headshot session?

Headshot sessions start from £195 and include up to 60 minutes of photography, relaxed guidance, a private viewing gallery and three professionally edited digital images.

Can I purchase additional images?

Yes. After viewing your gallery, you can select your three included images and purchase additional favourites if required.

Do you photograph business teams?

Yes, I offer on-location headshots for small businesses and teams, with consistent lighting and styling. Team sessions start from £350, with larger requirements quoted individually.

Family Photography

Where do family sessions take place?

Family sessions usually take place outdoors at relaxed locations around Lancaster and Morecambe, including parks, woodland and coastal areas.

If your family has a favourite local location, please mention it when enquiring. Limited travel outside the local area may also be available by arrangement.

How long does a family session last?

Sessions last up to one hour, giving children plenty of time to settle and allowing natural moments to develop without the experience feeling rushed.

How does family pricing work?

Family photography is offered as one simple package. It includes the photography session and a minimum of 20 professionally edited, high-resolution digital images.

There is no separate digital-image collection to purchase after the session. Professional prints and wall art are available separately but are completely optional.

You can find the current price, payment schedule and full package details on the Family Photography Pricing page.

Who chooses the photographs?

Following your session, I will carefully select and professionally edit the strongest photographs.

Your collection will include a minimum of 20 finished images chosen to provide a varied record of your family. This will normally include photographs of the whole family, children together and individually, parent-and-child combinations, and natural moments as they happen.

How will we receive our photographs?

Your finished photographs will be delivered through a private online gallery. You can download the high-resolution images directly and share the gallery with friends and family.

Most galleries are ready within one to two weeks following the session.

Can we purchase prints?

Yes. Professional prints, mounted prints and wall art can be ordered separately through your gallery.

Printed products are completely optional because your high-resolution digital photographs are already included in the package.

Do you photograph extended families and different generations?

Yes. Grandparents and extended-family groups are very welcome.

The standard package is designed for one immediate family. Larger groups or multiple households may require additional photography time, so please tell me who you would like to include when enquiring. Any additional cost will be agreed before booking.

What happens if the weather is unsuitable?

I monitor the forecast before outdoor sessions. If poor weather makes the session unsuitable or unsafe, we will arrange another mutually suitable date at no additional charge.

Cloud, cooler temperatures or light wind will not necessarily require the session to be postponed.

What should we wear?

Comfortable, timeless clothing works best. Coordinating colours without everyone matching exactly helps the photographs feel natural and keeps the attention on your family.

Neutral and earthy colours generally work particularly well in outdoor locations, but the most important thing is that everyone feels comfortable.
